Guidelines for Authors
1. Manuscript Submission
1.1. Submission Policy
Submission of a manuscript to Terrageospatial implies:
- The work has not been published previously (partly or in full).
- It is not under consideration for publication elsewhere.
- Publication has been approved by all co-authors and responsible authorities at the institute where the work was conducted.
- The publisher will not be held legally responsible for any claims for compensation.
1.2. Online Submission
Authors must submit manuscripts online to reduce processing time. All manuscript files should be uploaded following the on-screen instructions at our submission portal.
2. Manuscript Preparation
2.1. Title Page
The title page must include:
- A concise and informative title.
- Full name(s) of the author(s).
- Affiliation(s) and address(es) of all authors.
- E-mail address and contact numbers for the corresponding author.
- ORCID ID.
2.2. Abstract and Keywords
- Abstract: Provide an abstract of 150 to 300 words. It should not contain undefined abbreviations or unspecified references.
- Keywords: Provide 4 to 6 keywords for indexing purposes.
2.3. Text Formatting
- Software: Manuscripts should be submitted in Word (.doc or .docx) or LaTeX (original source and PDF required).
- Font: Use a plain, normal font (e.g., 10-point Times Roman).
- Indents: Use tab stops or internal commands, not the space bar.
- Structure: Follow the standard scientific structure: Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results and Discussion, and Conclusion.
- Headings: Use the decimal system for headings (no more than three levels).
- Scientific Style: Use standard SI units for all measurements. Mathematical variables should be in italics; vectors and matrices in bold.
Please use the journal template for preparing manuscript for submitting the revision, while unstructured plain manuscript can be submitted in the initial submission stage. The journal template can be downloaded upon request.
3. Visuals: Tables and Figures
3.1. Tables
- Number tables consecutively using Arabic numerals.
- Include a caption (title) for every table.
- Always cite tables in the text in numerical order.
3.2. Figure Guidelines
- Formats: Preferred formats are EPS for vector graphics and TIFF for halftones.
- Resolution: Halftones must be at least 300 dpi; scanned line drawings should be 1200 dpi.
- Color: Online publication of color art is free of charge, but authors may be required to contribute to print color costs.
3.3. Specific Geospatial Map Standards
General journals don't always check map technicalities, but a geospatial journal must.
- Coordinate Systems: All maps must clearly state the Projection and Coordinate Reference System (CRS) used (e.g., WGS84).
- Map Elements: Every map figure must include a scale bar, North arrow, and a clear legend.
- Resolution: Maps must be submitted at a minimum of 300 dpi to ensure small labels remain legible.
4. References
4.1. Citation in Text
Use the name and year system in parentheses.
- One author: (Thompson 1990).
- Two authors: (Becker and Seligman 1996).
- Three or more authors: (Abbott et al., 1991).
4.2. Reference List
Entries must be alphabetized by the last name of the first author. Only include works published or accepted for publication.
- Journal Article: Alauddin, M., Hossain M. N., Islam, M.B., Islam, S. and Islam, M.K. 5. Ethical Standards and Declarations
5.1. Ethical Responsibilities
Terrageospatial adheres to the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines.
- Plagiarism, data fabrication, and "salami-publishing" are strictly prohibited.
- The journal may use software to screen for plagiarism.
5.2. Mandatory Declarations
Authors must include the following sections before the Reference list:
- Funding: List funding organizations and grant numbers.
- Conflict of Interest: Disclose all financial and non-financial relationships that could bias the work. If none exist, state: "The authors declare that they have no conflict of interest".
- CRediT authorship contribution statement: Provide the author contribution details.
- Declaration of competing interest.

5.3. Data Availability Statement
Since the journal focuses on geospatial science, knowing where the data came from is vital for reproducibility.
- Authors must state where the raw satellite data, GIS layers, or field survey data are hosted.
- Acceptable statements include: "Data is available in a public repository (provide link)," "Data is available upon request," or "All data generated is included in the article".
6. Article Processing Charges (APC) Transparency
Journal of Terra Geospatial currently operates under a Diamond Open Access model.
- There are no submission fees and no publication charges.
- The journal is currently free for authors; any future fee changes to cover Crossref/DOI costs will be announced six months in advance.
7. Post-Acceptance
- Copyright Transfer: Authors will be asked to transfer copyright or grant exclusive rights upon acceptance. Open Choice articles remain with the author under a Creative Commons license.
- Proof Reading: Proofs are provided to check for typesetting errors only; substantial changes to content are not allowed.
- Online First: Articles are published online and are citable via a DOI before being assigned to an issue.
